Country Club of Peoria Peoria Heights, Illinois

CC of Peoria Hole 6

Formed as the first golf course in Peoria, The Country Club of Peoria has always had a respect for its history. Over the last 90 years the Club has seen its share of improvements, a new pro shop, clubhouse modifications, and golf course renovation projects. In 2006 the Club set its sites on continued improvements to the golf course with the design of a new irrigation system and improvements to the courses strategy, playability, and maintenance practices.

Michael J. Benkusky, Inc. has been working with the Club since that time by preparing a golf course Enhancement Plan. Benkusky’s task on this Plan is to review the course and most notably look at how the land has become overgrown due to tree planting. With close to 3,500 trees on nearly 100 acres, the course condition has suffered due to shade and air circulation problems.

The first phase of the project, which included fairway grading, tee modifications, and bunker additions, was completed in the fall of 2007. The second phase was completed in the fall of 2008 and included closing the golf course to regrass all fairways and greens, reconstruct and level all tees, and bunker additions. The golf course re-opened Spring 2009.
