Constructed on the 1,000+ acre estate of Gerald Forsythe, Canyata is one of the most exclusive golf courses in the Midwest. Set amidst some of the country’s most incredible backwoods, the golf course began receiving national attention. Following its opening, Canyata was voted as Runner-Up in Golf Digest's 2005 Best New Private Golf Course. Today it has been ranked by Golf Digest as #39 in there latest rankings of America's Top 100 Golf Courses and #3 in the State of Illinois.
Canyata is all about strategy and tempting the golfer to take chances. Combining short, drivable par 4’s with long par 3’s and strategically placed par 5’s, every club in the bag will be tested throughout your round. By playing around large lakes and across deep ravines, it is easy to get lost in the courses beauty.

Benkusky, Inc. is currently consulting with Canyata to improve the playability and maintainability of the course’s greens, increasing the courses strategy through the use of additional tees, and adjusting fairways and grassing patterns. Michael Benkusky began consulting with Mr. Forysthe shortly after starting his firm in 2005.
